Sports Quilt

Been awhile since I've posted,  but have been working hard to complete a quilt for a friend's daughter.   All I was given for criteria. ...Colts, U of I, Cardinals,  and Volleyball.   I was only able to purchase the Colts material.   So I designed a baseball motif centered around a baseball Dresden.  Finally found embroidery to purchase and added volleyball with her name and #.  Was honored and pleased to be asked to do this gift.
Hubs bought me a new longarm and this was my first quilt on it!
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed 2014!

Visiting Nona

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted.  Been in a slump and busy also.  What a combo....doesn't make a person very productive , and then again, it does, but not on important projects that "need" to be done....just ones that keep your mind off things!
The grandsons and family are coming for a visit, so of course they need a blanket for here! Jackson loves Ironman and Collin likes trucks and trash cans! Lol so I've incorporated those into their quilt (sans trash can ) because Nona isn't creative with drawing!
Jackson's Super Hero
Hope you enjoy!

My Current Favorite Tool

Every person whether they sew, quilt or even do woodworking, cooking etc.... Has a favorite tool! I just had to share my current one since it is AWESOME!!! :-)

I personally love vintage material and vintage quilts and blocks. So, when I started a "Grandmas Garden," I, of course, started the old fashioned way and tried to use papers by cutting out the papers, then cut out the fabric (I really don't like all that cutting!) Then I purchased an Accuquilt system and cut out my papers that way to have a guideline. But Accuquilt really isn't made for that purpose.
Last week, I was at JoAnn's, and they had a 40% off Fiskars! The paper punch had an ergonomically grip handle! Easy peasy! It cuts paper of course, or you can make permanent hexies if you use template material (don't forget to make a small hole in the center so you can pick out the template when you're done!)
Love, love, LOVE my hexies!
Although not vintage material, I love my flowers that are slowly growing!

Happy Mother's Day!

I wish you all a Happy Mothers Day! I made this pillow for my own mother this year. Her 2 things she likes....quilts and the color purple on the back. I created it out of a simple design on my Babylock Ellisimo Gold. I changed the size, rotation, mirror imaged and finally the colors they suggested and a couple of hours later I had changed the plain muslin to something I thought might make her know she's loved and appreciated.

May you all have a wonderful weekend and share it with your loved ones.

April Showers bring May....Shower curtains?!

I know the saying is April Showers, Bring May Flowers.....for me, it was time for a Bathroom Simplistic Makeover!  New Towels, Monogrammed:

AND........

New Shower curtain......I've had the material for YEARS and have now completed it's original use!

I just need to complete some guest hand towels and all will be complete! :-)

Lessons Learned:  I will let you in on a little secret......When I monogrammed Terry's towel, I went over the script a couple of times because the threads were poking out.
On MY towel, I experimented, and overlayed another piece of water soluble Stabilizer and that was the perfect solution to prevent it.

Thank you very much T for painting the kitchen and the bathroom for the complete make over of the color green in the thread I used to monogram our names.

This, and Mother's Day item was on my To-do list for the week!  Which I will post a Mother's Day item later on in the week!

As always, when I make an item, it is filled with love of the person I making the item for, AND thinking of the loved ones that are far away!

Pardon me with the ULTIMATE BRAG:  My son, "Chef" won a Bronze Medal in a Culinary Competition this past week!  We are so proud of him, his hard work, great work ethic and how well he provides for his family!  We  are also proud of DIL because she has the ultimate task we women know that is the hardest job of all:  Standing behind her man, supporting and loving him, raising their children, taking care and loving them.  I love her for this and appreciate her more than she knows!
And of course, we are proud of all of them and love them all unconditionally.  Nona and Papaw love you all! XOXOXOX

Giraffes, and Duck and Fish Oh My!!

Well, it's Friday and I have been busy this week! I finished Collin's Quilt! Yay! Took a bit more time because my half square triangles were much smaller and the quilt much larger than a baby quilt! ;-) plus I added a herd of elephants and a couple of penguins to the bottom! Sure wish I could mail them off this afternoon, but the post office will be closed by the time I pack them up (Sock Monkey goes also)!
I have not forgotten my organization pics! I just have not completed that task...funny how life gets in the way at times! Yet, in this case, maybe it's a good thing! Lol no, it just put off the inevitable....a clean room! :-)
Hope you all have a blessed weekend!
